ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR – SENIOR

WVNET is looking for a highly motivated Database Administrator to assist State Higher Education institutions in managing their databases in a dynamic and challenging environment. The Oracle DBA will work with AIX, Linux, and Oracle Cloud and be responsible for managing databases that support critical applications such as Ellucian’s Banner, Degreeworks, and other third-party applications.

Work Location: 837 Chestnut Ridge Road, Morgantown, WV, 26505 (Hybrid Remote Eligible)

SALARY / BENEFITS

MINIMUM Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.

  • 4 years of Application Programming- for the programming and data processing functions
  • 2 years of Systems Analysis – for the systems revision and problem determination functions.
  • 4 years Oracle database administration
  • 1-2 years of experience working with Oracle databases within Oracle’s Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

Provide support, installations, migrations, patching of the Oracle database and related tools for multiple clients. Conduct database tuning, security, backups, and optimization of the database for the Banner® ERP. Create, maintain, and upgrade ERP environment including Tomcat servers.Create, maintain and upgrade ORDS installations supporting Banner or Axiom. Codes database description and specifies identifiers of database-to-database management system or directs other in coding database description. Provide troubleshooting assistance with issues related to user logins and single sign-on for Banner9. Provide senior technical leadership to assist clients with complex technical planning and task management for clients implementing all the Ellucian Banner® products including Banner, Degree Works, ODS / Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), other Banner ancillary systems. Assists in planning pertaining to database environment to include database capacity planning, processing, capacity, storage capacity, backup capacity, future needs/requirements. Assists in projecting long-range requirements for database administration in conjunction with Enterprise Database Administrator, managers in the information systems function, as well as business function managers. May be cross-trained on Banner System Administration, including troubleshooting, application of patches, and basic maintenance. Requires occasional after-hours and weekend work.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Oracle Database Management, Ellucian Banner Administration (preferred), MS SQL Server administration, Tomcat administration, Oracle RAC administration, basic Linux system administration, basic Windows system administration, computer security, and application system design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of information processing theories and techniques to fulfill the position’s programming, security, and database support responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, communications, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities and keep to deadlines.
  • Ability to present ideas in a clear and concise format using narrative statements and logic.
  • Ability to maintain current working knowledge of technical information in a rapidly changing field.
  • Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions and technical manuals.
  • Documentation capabilities to write end user and technical documentation and help files.
  • Ability to conduct presentations and demonstrations to technical and non-technical groups. 
  • Ability to work independently on multiple assignments and to work collaboratively within a team.
