Software Developer and Database Administrator
Originally from Bel Air, MD, Russell graduated in 2012 from West Virginia University with a BS in Computer Science. He started his journey with WVNET in August 2012 as an intern. Russell was employed full time in April 2013 as a Database Specialist and worked on Statewide Longitudinal Database (P-20) project, a database that can help capture and analyze student progression from K-12 to college and success in workforce.
In 2014 he became a Data Warehouse Specialist where he worked on educational software including Banner, Banner ESM((and automating WAR file generation for the then upcoming Banner 9) and played a key role on setting up Argos. In 2017 he moved to his current position as a software developer/DBA for Media Services. Russell has revamped and automated several projects including PSTachio, WVCN, WVIRC, email management system (AMS) and Employee time management system .
His coworkers said, “Russell loves programming and automation; he is always in a quest to achieve maximum efficiency”.
Russell lives in Fairmont with his wife (Kyla) and two cats (Timmy and Jack). Russell says he loves working in WVNET as it allows him to work on projects that challenge the current paradigm and allows him to provide new solutions to improve educational outcomes in the state.
