Accounting Assistant

WVNET wants to shine the spotlight on Libby Cress, Accounting Assistant at WVNET Business Office.

Libby was born and raised in Masontown, WV and graduated from Valley High School, Home of the Pioneers.

She started working at WVNET from 1999 and in her words “I was hired by a wonderful group of people back then. Only Phil Snitz and I are left from the original group. I sure do miss them all and remain friends with them even today”.  She says that working with customers is the highlight of her job and interacting with people from all over the state is that little sunshine in her workday that motivates her to be her best.

She thinks WVNET is a wonderful place to work as it has wonderful people who have a wide set of talent and a joyous outlook in life.

Libby is blessed with 4 beautiful granddaughters, great son-in-law and of course her beautiful daughter. One can’t leave out her wonderful husband of 48 years, Mr. Cress.  She loves bowling and enjoys spending time with her Church and bowling group.

Lead System Administrator

Michael has enjoyed working with hardware and software and joined WVNET as a network operator in 2013. His skillset and desire to learn provided him the opportunity to join the Systems group as a System Administrator in 2017.

In this role he oversaw management of Linux and Windows servers and assisted in Data Center Management. Michael continued to show a proficiency in learning new systems and was promoted to Lead Systems Administrator in 2019 where he continues his previous duties as well as providing service level support for Banner, LMS, Email, Web Services, and core infrastructure. He continues to take on additional roles at WVNET and excels at performing the duties associated with them.

Mike says he enjoys working for WVNET and all the new challenges it presents.

Project Manager – IT and Application Development

Born in Fairmont, Chevee joined United States Marine Corps right out of high school.  After his service he got an AA in Information Technology in 2013 and worked in K-12 for 8 years as a part of RESA7 providing IT, Network Admin, and Domain Admin services. While working here, he developed the Professional Learning and Development (PLAD) application for K-12 staff to track their required learning hours.  Chevee joined WVNET in 2018 as a software developer and brought his experience from K-12 to work on developing and improving several educational applications. He developed applications that streamlined nursing student’s assignment process. He worked on the front end and improvising several applications including PLAD, OZ, PSTachio, Card, AMS, WVCN. From summer 2020, he has been managing WVNET’s OZ problem tracking application.

Chevee likes working at WVNET as it is an exciting and challenging environment that allows him to hone his skills on an expansive set of projects.  Chevee says WVNET is in a unique position to offer a wide range of services and solutions to higher ed, K-12, state, and local government.

Chevee lives in Fairmont with his partner Melia and dog DJ. He enjoys reading, making furniture, designing, and playing games with his friends and family (Including his two-daughter aged 12 and 16).

WVNET thanks Chevee for his service and hopes the applications he develops at WVNET can help improve educational institutions in our state.

Web Assistant

Mr. McKeown joined WVNET two years ago as an operator in the Network Operation Center (NOC).  Adam had a degree in Information Technology from West Virginia Junior College. Prior to Joining WVNET, Adam worked for the help desk at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown.  Outside of work, he enjoys supporting sustainable living industry by freelancing web development and marketing activities.  Adam enjoys baking and playing guitar with friends.

Adam says “I like working at WVNET as it provides me with opportunities to solve interesting technical challenges for WV education institutions and of course a chance to grab a bite with friends and colleagues at the neighboring Tudors Biscuit World.”

Software Developer and Database Administrator

Originally from Bel Air, MD,  Russell graduated in 2012 from West Virginia University with a BS in Computer Science. He started his journey with WVNET in August 2012 as an intern. Russell was employed full time in April 2013 as a Database Specialist and worked on Statewide Longitudinal Database (P-20) project, a database that can help capture and analyze student progression from K-12 to college and success in workforce.

In 2014 he became a Data Warehouse Specialist where he worked on educational software including Banner, Banner ESM((and automating WAR file generation for the then upcoming Banner 9) and played a key role on setting up Argos.  In 2017 he moved to his current position as a software developer/DBA for Media Services.  Russell has revamped and automated several projects including PSTachio, WVCN, WVIRC, email management system (AMS) and Employee time management system .

His coworkers said, “Russell loves programming and automation; he is always in a quest to achieve maximum efficiency”.

Russell lives in Fairmont with his wife (Kyla) and two cats (Timmy and Jack). Russell says he loves working in WVNET as it allows him to work on projects that challenge the current paradigm and allows him to provide new solutions to improve educational outcomes in the state.

Distance Learning Team Lead and West Virginia State Technology Conference(WVSTC) Coordinator.

Harmony is currently a Doctoral candidate at WVU. She has a Master’s Degree in Education from Fairmont State University. She has been the Distance Learning Team Lead at WVNET for 3 ½ years. Before Joining WVNET she was the E-learning Specialist at Pierpont Community and Technical College. She worked as Instructional Technologist from 2010 to 2014 at Fairmont State University. Harmony is currently serving as a chairperson for the organizing committee of West Virginia Statewide Technology Conference (WVSTC), WV’s premier educational technology conference and is looking forward to organizing it in the virtual environment this year. Harmony loves working at the interface of technology and education. 

She says, “I am happy to work at WVNET as it provides me an opportunity to provide cutting edge tools and conduct training for WV higher education institutions.” Harmony Garletts lives in Fairmont and enjoys reading and spending time with family.
