What is Degree Works? Degree Works is a comprehensive, easy-to-use, web-based academic advising and degree audit tool that helps students and their advisors successfully navigate curriculum requirements.
What is Brightspace? Brightspace facilitates the organization of online course material, and provides a wide variety of tools and features that can be added to these courses, including a conferencing system, on-line chat, student progress tracking, group project organization, student self-evaluation, grade maintenance and distribution, access control, navigation tools, auto-marked quizzes, electronic mail, course calendar, student homepages, course content searches and much more.
About the WVNET Purchasing Department The WVNET Purchasing department is responsible for the purchasing of materials, equipment, supplies and services at the lowest possible cost consistent with the quality required to provide the best service to WVNET and its member institutions. We are members of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing and the National Association of Educational Buyers. We also participate in consortium buying through PEPPM and E&I. WVNET provides data communications services to West Virginia public and private higher education, as well as to K-12 public education, some government agencies, and other not-for-profit organizations. We currently provide high-speed connections via either Frame Relay or Carrier Ethernet. Actual fees are based upon factors such as the “committed information rate” (CIR), as well as setup and maintenance fees associated with the type of connection. 2017 was a challenging year for education and government in West Virginia. State budget issues lead to cutbacks and uncertainties, which caused some of WVNET’s staff to move on to other employment opportunities. Despite the hardships WVNET persevered, on behalf of our customers, to keep all of our services available at a high level of quality.
